KIND’s Visit to the White House
How exactly did KIND’s leader come to meet the leader of the free world? It was all part of the Presidential Ambassadors for Global Entrepreneurship (PAGE) initiative, started by the President and chaired by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker to champion entrepreneurship in the U.S. and abroad. The PAGE members, including Daniel, share the belief that entrepreneurship fosters market economies, generates jobs and provides a well-lit path for young people seeking personal and professional fulfillment.
The entire day was special, but a particular highlight came when President Obama discussed the positive impact of entrepreneurship on economies, communities and people everywhere. He said, “We’re here today because we believe in the power of entrepreneurship – the basic notion that if you’ve got an idea and if you really work hard and you’re able to pick yourself up if you stumble a couple of times, you can eventually turn that idea into a reality. And this matters to us because encouraging the spirit of entrepreneurship can help us to tackle some of the greatest challenges that we face around the world.”
This message really resonates with the KIND team – after all, this brand was born out of entrepreneurship and has benefited from the many mistakes Daniel made in the early days of his own entrepreneurial journey. Back then, he used to pack products into a battered, fake-leather briefcase and sell them door-to-door in NYC for 16-18 hours at a time. While he’s no longer doing that, the entrepreneurial spirit that initially drove him remains alive and well at KIND and continues to propel us forward today. We’ve been fortunate enough to experience firsthand what happens when someone is empowered to pursue a dream, and we’re eager to do our small part to help others do the same.
Over the coming weeks and months, Daniel will join other PAGE members in supporting the next generation of innovators as they navigate the highs and lows that come with entrepreneurship. We’ll definitely share more updates as we have them.
We also learned something else yesterday – the President has excellent taste in snacks. He told Daniel that he brings KIND bars when traveling on Air Force One and Marine One. Mr. President, we approve of this snacking message.
