KIND on Good Morning America: Healthy Summer Snacks

KIND got a nice endorsement by Good Morning America.  Check this link out. Heidi Skolnik rocks!  KIND is mentioned mid-way through the review.  Some of their comments:

Tanya Rivero, Good Morning America Health: "I love these KIND bars.  I am a big fan of these.  These are delicious, and they are very nutritious."

Heidi Skolnik, nutritionist: "the more I learn about the company, the more I even them."…"so unprocessed", "whole good foods together even though it is a snack bar"…

The Essence of KIND

Kim, Erica and Natalie at KIND Snacks put together a really neat internal presentation at KIND’s Growing Together Retreat earlier this spring and I wanted to share it:

It takes a little bit for it to upload but I think it’s worth it.  Make sure volume is on.

Quote of the Week: Emerson and KINDing

You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Thx to Natalie, Erica and Kim for pointing me to this one and including it in the Essence of KIND presentation - very much in sync with KIND and the KINDED campaign.

Hayati Al Hurra TV Interview

Here is an interview about OneVoice, PeaceWorks, and "my life" (the title and theme of the show, Hayati) that aired on the Arabic TV Network Al Hurra.

It is painfully funny to watch how chubby I was… :-)

The Intellect of Simplicity

Matthew Crawford wrote a really interesting article, The Case For Working with Your Hands, in The New York Times Magazine, about the overlooked intellectual rigor required when making physical things.

It could not come at a better time, as we are becoming more virtual, digital, commodified, and dissociated from nature - and from the simplicity of tangible output. Whether it is the Internet, financial derivatives, chicken mcnuggets or "nutrition" bars made with stuff you can’t decipher or pronounce, society is on a trajectory to twist and pretend away from simple realness.

KIND, by the way, is a counter-cultural effort to reconnect with the goodness of real, authentic, transparent wholesome natural unadulterated ingredients you can see and pronounce.  The philosophy underlying everything we do is to stick to authenticity: a) avoid pretentious wannabe names that betray the reality of the products we make with allegorical cute titles; b) avoid fillers; c) avoid artificial ingredients and artificial sweeteners; d) avoid overprocessing and emulsification; and just in general stick to wholesome ingredients you can see and pronounce.™

Change-Maker

I don’t think I’ve ever laughed harder at an interview about PeaceWorks.  This is HILARIOUS - I don’t understand it, but I love the part when they start poking fun at all our mistakes.  As well as when the guy shows up with the title "Non Style."  What is that?  Definitely lost in translation!

Change-Maker was the first episode on a Social Entrepreneurship Series by NHK Japan, which is like the BBC of Asia.

Testimonial from the youngest KIND snack consumer

So the other day my 2 year old daughter came barging into my room saying: "quiere nacky, quiere nacky"

translation- my daughter learned the word snack a long time ago, but pronounces it nack, and when she discovered "Kind Snacks: she decided to call them "nacky"

so after asking for nacky, she starts banging on my locked office door where she knows I keep the Kind bars, with increased frustration asking for nacky.

I finally open a bar and hand her a piece, she is satisfied, but wants more, she can eat a whole kind bar quite fast. (did I mention she is 2).  once it is finished she is quite upset, wanting more nacky.

finally I pick up the phone and tell her to ask her uncle daniel for Kind, of course he doesn’t answer but she leaves him a sweet message:

"tio, quiere mas Kind" translation- uncle want more Kind

From my brother’s daughter:

Yale Study: Eating KIND bars helps lose weight

New Year's Yale Card

Natalie and Frank at PeaceWorks did an amazing job sending out 2,000 New Year’s greeting cards with KIND bars as part of a drive to recommend a tasteful resolution: eat two KIND bars a day, and lose weight.

The initiative stemmed from an independent study by Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center, which highlighted that daily consumption of KIND Fruit and Nut bars can contribute to weight loss, to a decrease in blood pressure, and to lower body mass index.
