Orni Petrushka, Gilead Sher and Ami Ayalon wrote a very thoughtful and compelling opinion piece in the New York Times that should be required reading for anyone who cares about Israel and/or Palestine.  The time has come for citizens, communities and governments in the region and globally to start making a two state solution a reality.  With positive facts on the ground.  OneVoice and the PeaceWorks Foundation will hopefully be deepening their work in this direction also.

Paul McCartney has been a strong and steady voice in support of OneVoice and its efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East.  In 2009 Sir Paul wrote a letter to President Obama to notify him of OneVoice’s work, and Sir Paul currently lists OneVoice at the top of his list of supported charities.  We’re honored to be joined by Sir Paul in our efforts and are inspired by the way he uses his talents to bring people together.

Former UK Foreign Secretary David Miliband attended a OneVoice gala dinner in London earlier this week and made it clear that he feels it’s crucial to establish a Palestinian state alongside a secure state of Israel- anything less would be a great “diplomatic failure.”  The former Foreign Secretary went on to state that “It’s the greatest diplomatic failure because actually it is one of those international problems to which there is a viable solution.”  To read the full transcript, see below, or watch this video:

This video contains a sweet message about peace that is very similar to OneVoice’s Imagine 2018 campaign.

This video does a great job of depicting the paralyzing problem at hand in the Mideast negotiations.  Watch this video to see how OneVoice silently voiced their opinion that the negotiation talks need to be unfrozen.

This Huffington Post article by Joel Braunold of OneVoice is excellent and worth reading.  Joel articulates the deeper meaning behind UNESCO Membership for Palestinians: “the establishment of World Heritage sites.”  According to Joel, this is crucial in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict which at its core is about connection to the land, and control over it.

This article, written by Gershon Baskin is sadly, very good .  If anything, it is too gentle with the potential downside.  The Palestinian economy is actually witnessing growth under Fayyad. If the cuts in aid push the Palestinian economy into a recession, it is far less certain that Palestinians will continue to have a stake in the path of non-violence that Abbas has laid out.

At the close of OneVoice’s delegation to Israel and the West Bank, participants met with Israeli celebrities such as Judy Shalom Nir-Mozes, Lior Shlein (of the popular TV show State of the Union), Meirav Michaeli (a journalist from Haaretz and former TV actor), and Shlomo Baraba (a theatre actor).

Read this article, written by OneVoice’s Ivan Karakashian, to see more about participants reflections on their previous meetings and on the peace process at large.
