Join OneVoice in Annapolis, Represent 620,000 Signatories Urging Ongoing Negotiations

Nov 25, 2007 Published under Middle East, Mideast Negotiations, OneVoice Movement

From the OneVoice Teams:

It’s working.

The leaders are listening to their peoples’ demand for immediate negotiations towards a two-state-solution: for the first time in over 15 years, the Israeli and Palestinian Heads of State will be joined by the US and 20 Arab nations in a regional summit at Annapolis.

Those opposing a two state solution are vocally opposing Annapolis.

Our duty, as Palestinian, Israeli, and international citizens, is to support ongoing, uninterrupted negotiations until the conclusion of a comprehensive agreement.

Join us on November 27th in Annapolis, Maryland as a small delegation of OneVoice activists from the Middle East, the US and Europe carries the torch on behalf of the 620,000+ signatories to the OneVoice Mandate, and on behalf of the overwhelming majorities of Israelis and Palestinians that support negotiations towards a two-state solution.  Your participation will help us send a message that the people will stand by their leaders if they take the requisite bold steps.

To join our team to Annapolis, contact Darya Shaikh (at +1 212 897 3985 x233 or darya@OneVoiceMovement.org) or visit www.OneMillionVoices.org where more information will be made available.

If you can’t join us in person, please sign on to the Mandate now.

If you already signed on, kindly forward this message to 5 friends and urge them to do the same.

With Warmth and Conviction,

The OneVoice Teams

People of Israel remember who you Are!.

I was watching a show the other day that the BBC put out called “Jekyll”. It kind of reminded me of an episode of the original Star Trek that had the same message.

It was about a man who had a split personality. Well more than just a split personality as the man actually changed physical appearance when he changed personalities.

Well one side of him was ruthlessly savage and of course that side of him was labeled “bad” or evil. Well it was found out in the show that that was the side that gave him strength. Without both his Jekyll side working along with his Hyde side he was just half a man. Jekyll needed Hyde as much as Hyde needed Jekyll.

Well it is like that with great people as well as it is like that with great nations. Israeli society is one of the most refined, just, cultured societies in the world. A true civil society where human rights are given great respect.

But on the flip side of this duality, Israeli society has had to be in other to form itself and continue its existence, ruthless, brutal, savage. And I am not only talking about their treatment of the Palestinians. Heck, the Palestinians have had it easy. How about the the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites? All civilizations that the Israelis had to ruthlessly destroy – leaving “alive nothing that breathes.”

The dark but very real truth of the situation is that there is a time for Hyde. If no Hyde no civilization has a chance to survive. For you can’t have Jekyll without Hyde!

So, people of Israel remember who you are. Remember how you killed every man woman and child in your path be them Amorite, Hittite, Hivite, etc. Young, old, it didn’t matter. You ruthlessly exterminated every last one of them. You must remember that for your very survival is at stake. You must now show your fangs. You must now let your Hyde come out and Play.

Oh and here is the Star Trek Link.

We see indications that it’s his negative side
    which makes him strong,
that his evil side, controlled and disciplined,
    is vital to his strength.
Your negative side removed from you,
the power of command begins to elude you.
What is your point, Mr. Spock?

Jim… you’re no different than anyone else.
We all have our darker side.
    We need it!
It’s half of what we are.
    It’s not ugly. It’s human.
    Human.
A lot of what he is makes you the man you are.
God forbid I should agree with Spock,
    but he was right.
    Without the negative side,
    you couldn’t be the captain.

Sophia (Doctor Jackman’s mother): “When did you first come to realize that you could kill someone, anyone, if you had to?”

Claire (Doctor Jackman’s Wife): “The moment I held my babies in my arms.”

Sophia “Hyde is love, and love is a psychopath”

I don’t really know how to reply to the above two posts – I guess they cancel each other out? But for the record:

    1) the overwhelming majority of Palestinians are good human beings who like every human being want a better future for their children and do not cherish their children dying; I strongly disagree with teaching children to become suicide bombers or embrace even a just struggle through violence; but the video link above commits the same sin of demonization of another people as that which it complains about;

    2) the overwhelming majority of Israelis are good human beings who like every human being have positive and negative impulses, BUT, unlike what the post asserts, I deeply believe that Israelis, like all other human beings, are essentially good and benevolent, and evil and negativity are the exceptions which we must fight within ourselves every day, and which more often than not humanity succeeds in overcoming.

They don’t cancel each other out. The first post is about what the Israelis need to do in order to survive and the second post is why the Israelis deserve to survive over the Palestinians.
