A Call by Howard Schultz for All of Us to Seize Back the Agenda for Governance
The attached ad appeared across different newspapers this past weekend. I am immensely inspired by Howard’s leadership on this front. Partisanship is the source of stagnation in DC and across the Statehouses, at a time when we desperately and urgently need leadership to address all the policy challenges we face, including the financial and trade deficits, the education system, our foreign policy, and the overall challenge of special interests and extremist agendas overtaking the greater interests of society. If we as citizens cede the stage, these challenges will not be resolved.

Balance intuition with rigor. Innovate around the core. Don’t embrace the status quo. Find [...]

Have you ever noticed that most (if not all) of our rrevpsentatiees in Congress are in the top 1% in terms of wealth? Now, what does that tell you about who they represent . It is my opinion that (1) no one should be voted into public office who has a net worth greater than $500,000 (ok, you pick a number), (2) they should be paid well (again, you pick a number how much does the president get?) and (3)anything they earn over and above the pay they receive should be taxed at a rate of 90%. Can you believe how much these people make for speaking. Talk about buying elected officials.
