The following article  by Efraim Halevy is worth a read, as it delineates a viewpoint of givens to accept when thinking about the Israeli- Palestinian conflict, as well as a mindset that Israel should adopt to foster peace.  Because the Halevy  believes that  a permanent solution to the conflict would be best, but is not a possible outcome at present, he posits how to accept basic rights and coexist, as a temporary fix.

This NYT Op-Ed was written by Ephraim Sneh, a former Labor Knesset member and Deputy Defense Minister who serves on OneVoice’s Board.  This article is worth reading, as he represents the centrist pro-Israel and pro-peace progressive, but also harbors a protective view that can appeal to the majority of Israelis.

JR, a world-famous artist and TED prize winner, is bringing his work to Israel and Palestine- or more accurately, is bringing Israelis and Palestinians into his work.  The concept behind JR’s work is to portray people around the world and what they stand for, via oversized, black and white portraits of themselves that are subsequently pasted all over town.

As part of his “Inside Out Project,” JR is bringing 4 photo booths to Israel and Palestine for a little over a week, where citizens will have the opportunity to print portraits, and paste them wherever they wish in an act of self expression.  JR is bringing his work to this region to facilitate understanding between Israelis and Palestinians, to show that “despite their differences, Palestinians and Israelis are similar enough to understand each other.” As the name of this campaign suggests, JR believes that the “Time is Now, Yallah!”

Consumers are starting to take legal action to call to task companies that claim to make natural products while using artificial ingredients.  A week ago, Shape Magazine also issued a story calling to task companies that claimed their nutritional bars were “all natural” even though they contain artificial ingredients, like ThinkThin.

Now comes this lawsuit against Kashi for using ingredients that are not natural…

It is not money.  In fact, financial incentives can achieve sub-par results when challenging people to perform cognitive tasks.  As this video explains, the pursuit of purpose, autonomy, and mastery are far greater drivers to propel performance.

A recent Palestinian Center for Public Opinion Poll sought to understand whether or not Palestinians are in support of Mahmoud Abbas’s decision to bring the Palestinian case before the UN again, later this month.  Equally importantly, the poll also examined what the people think will come of this decision.   The results, pasted below, show that over 86% of Palestinians disapprove of the US attempt to recognize the Palestinian state, and provide insight into other commonly held sentiments as well:

83.6%) of the Palestinians evaluate the US efforts on recognizing the Palestinian state as

              negative.

(59.3%) prefer to resume the negotiations with Israel.

(45.2%) expect Palestine to become a new UN member

(48.8%) oppose holding peaceful demonstrations after proclaiming the recognition of the

State of Palestine at the UN.

(49.2%) believe that the PA President, Mahmoud Abbas, should exert more effort to

obtain international support for the recognition of the Palestinian state.

(52.7%) oppose at various degrees any decision taken by the PA President to retreat from

              going to the UN.

(41.7%) appreciate the UN role in the efforts aiming at the recognition of the Palestinian

              state.

This New York Times article makes the important point that having the most capable, productive and creative employees are a key component to success in any business.  It is important that all team members give 120% and that mediocrity never be tolerated.  Thanks to our leadership team, we have the good fortune to be able to work with many great team members who work around the clock with focus and diligence.
